What I Believe

I believe that there is one God over the universe who is holy, infinite, sovereign, wise, all-knowing, and all-powerful.

I believe in the Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, three in one.

I believe that He created the world in six literal days and created humans in His own image (Genesis 1:1-31).

I believe that Satan is real and that, tempted by Satan, the first humans fell into sin and took the whole world with them (Genesis 3).

I believe that, because God is just, our sin deserved death, but because He loved us, He sent Jesus Christ His Son to die for us (John 3:16).

I believe that through Christ’s death, we no longer have to seek God’s favor through good works, which we would never have succeeded at anyway; through Christ, we can receive salvation and eternal life simply through faith. It is a gift (Romans 3:23-25).

I believe that, even though salvation is a gift, when we receive Christ he changes our hearts and causes us to desire a life of faith and service. The Christian life is one of striving to follow God’s commands, not to earn His love, but out of gratitude for His love (James 2:14-17).

Theologically, my beliefs are aligned with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
