Modesty: Introduction

Spring has arrived (mostly, sort of) and the birds are singing, the sun has come out, the flowers are blooming…

What else has arrived? The days of super-short shorts, skirts, and bikinis.

This is the frustrating side of summer for Christians, the part where girls show every possible inch of skin as much as they can, seeming to lose all decency and self-respect. It seems like a good time for a discussion of modesty on this blog. I hope to encourage you to hold yourself to standards and not give in to the pressure of the world around you.

Modesty is an important, much-discussed topic in Christian circles; I hope to bring you another perspective that you can use as you build your personal views and standards.

This series will (hopefully…it sometimes changes) have nine parts (not including this post). They will be as follows:

  1. What the Bible says about modesty
  2. What modesty means
  3. Modesty in actions
  4. Why we dress modestly
  5. Setting standards for our clothes
  6. Tips for dressing modestly
  7. What about makeup?
  8. What about guys?
  9. Resources for modest dressing

(For any guys reading this blog, stick around! There will be parts that apply to you too.)

I hope you’re excited to dive into this important topic! If you have questions about modesty, let me know so I can address them in future posts!

Aw, thanks 🙂 Helping other Christian teens feel connected is definitely one of my major missions. Glad I’m accomplishing it! Hope you’ve liked the series so far!

YES so looking forward to these posts. All of my friends love to wear low cuts and crops tops and short shorts to make themselves cooler, whilst using as many curse words as possible. Looks uncool to me *sigh*
