A Peek Inside My Music Library

Hey everyone! Happy Saturday!

Today I want to talk a little bit about the music I listen to. I don’t mention it that much, other than in my monthly updates, where I mainly share new artists or albums I’ve discovered. So I wanted to give you a little peek into my actual music library on my phone. That way I can share some things that I’ve been listening to for a long time and maybe haven’t shared on here before.

Since my music library is rather massiveI won’t be sharing everything in it, just the favorites that I think you should know about. I won’t be mentioning any Broadway stuff because I assume you all know that I love Broadway and it would require a separate blog post to list all of my favorite shows…

Here goes!

The Josh Groban Collection

Josh Groban was the first singer that I discovered on my own and started buying his music and following new album releases and stuff for. If you’ve never heard of him, he is an originally classical singer that started releasing more pop-style albums (is this called classical crossover…?). His voice is incredible.

His first and second albums definitely have more of a classical feel, while the next three are more pop-style, and the last one, Stages, is my favorite because it’s his versions of Broadway songs. For me, Broadway + Josh Groban = a winning album.

The majority of his songs are completely clean, and I would highly recommend all of his albums. His Christmas album is also gold.

Christian Albums

As I Am by Kristin Chenoweth, The Altar and the Door by Casting Crowns, Who am I by Casting Crowns, God’s Not Dead by the Newsboys, Season One by All Sons and Daughters, Song of Psalms by Brandon Showalter

This is the Christian music I have right now. I don’t really collect a lot of contemporary Christian because it can be really hit-or-miss, but Casting Crowns and the Newsboys are two popular Christian bands that I really enjoy listening to.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned Kristin Chenoweth on here before, so I won’t repeat that except to say that this album of hers is wonderful. All Sons and Daughters are an alternative Christian group that a friend recommended to me.

Everyone here should check out Brandon Showalter’s EP. He is an artist who is just starting out. The EP is five Psalms set to piano accompaniment. His voice is amazing and the songs are beautiful and relaxing. Get this album!!

Other

And here’s the miscellaneous things that I listen to…

The top row is the stuff that I like to listen to while writing, working, etc. Enya is really relaxing and good to listen to while writing, and Lindsey Stirling is great for homework and stuff as well.

I can’t recommend/I don’t care for all of Pentatonix’s songs (although their Christmas albums…just perfect), but there are some that I really like.

Charlotte Church is a singer who sang classical at a really young age. This album compiles the best of her classical pieces. Her voice is amazing.

Peter and Evynne Hollens are definitely favorites of mine. They are husband and wife, with separate YouTube channels where they both post their own music videos, but they often collaborate with each other as well. This particular song is the only one of theirs that I own, but there are so many others that I love. Plus, this song features Lindsey Stirling!

So there you go! A peek into my favorite albums in my music library. As you can see, I listen to a wide variety of genres. I hope you gained some inspiration from this if you have been looking for some new music to listen to. Leave a comment below and tell me what your favorite artists/albums/genres are!

Haha stealing Emily’s word “eclectic” my music tastes are crazy all over the place xD Did you know Josh Groban did a cover of Falling Slowly? It’s pretty cool haha!
And I love Lindsey Stirling, she’s one of my favorites, especially her Phantom of the Opera medley!! AND ENYA. Haha we have similar tastes, that’s awesome! Enya’s voice is so beautiful.

Happy Saturday, Grace! I’m like you — I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, so I’m definitely going have to check these out. I love the few songs I’ve heard by Lindsey Stirling, and Casting Crowns and Newsboys are great. (I personally adore Casting Crowns.) Another Christian contemporary artist I like is Nicole Nordeman. She’s great.

I love Michael Buble and Colbie Caillat. I’m also a sucker for some country music every now and then, particularly in the summertime.

Now I’m going to have to listen to some Josh Groban songs, because he sounds awesome!

Well, it’s a month later and I finally realized I had comments to respond to haha. I listened to Michael Buble’s Christmas music in December this year and really liked it, so I should look into more of his stuff. And yessssss Josh Groban is awesome!!!!!!!

Super cool, Grace! I love discovering new music. 😀

Right now, I’m loving twenty øne piløts and Owl City, a little bit of Andra Day (her voice is GORGEOUS!), and Tori Kelly, as far as pop goes.

I like some Christian music, but you’re right, it really is hit-or-miss. For that I like JJ Heller, Hillsong, All Sons and Daughters (!) and a few others. 😉

New music is great. I have my favorites, but they do get old sometimes. I really need to check out twenty one pilots. I know sooo many people who listen to them. And Hillsong! Definitely another Christian band I like. I just don’t have any of their albums in my library at the moment.

P.S. Sorry this is a month later. If you actually see it then that’s great.
